John J. Haley, former president and CEO of Willis Towers Watson, is joining private equity firm Thomas H. Lee Partners as an executive partner in its financial technology and services investment group, a news release said Tuesday.
It is a new position, a spokesman said in an email. Mr. Haley has also been appointed to the board of Thomas H. Lee Partners portfolio company AmeriLife Group.
"I was immediately drawn to the collegial nature of the financial technology and services team at THL, which shows in the way they work with not only each other, but also their portfolio companies," Mr. Haley said in the news release. "It's easy to see how this impressive team has established such meaningful relationships with insurance technology, services, and distribution firms, as well as fintech companies more broadly. I especially look forward to partnering with AmeriLife and THL's other portfolio companies."
Mr. Haley retired from Willis Towers Watson in January 2022 after 23 years in the post. Mr Haley was replaced in both roles by Carl Hess, head of investment, risk and reinsurance at Willis Towers Watson.
