George Mattson has joined Star Mountain Capital in the new position of president after serving as a senior advisor for six years, said spokeswoman Bridgit Chiappetta.
"I have known and worked with George for nearly a decade including as a valued senior advisor to and investor in Star Mountain," said Brett Hickey, Star Mountain founder and CEO, in a Thursday news release.
"I have known George since the early '90s when we worked together at Credit Suisse," said Brian Finn, Star Mountain Capital's chairman as well as former president of Credit Suisse First Boston, in the same release.
As president, Mr. Mattson is working on all aspects of the $3.5 billion lower middle market private equity firm's business, including strategy, investment analysis, portfolio management, talent development, investment origination and investor relations, the news release said.
Before working with Star Mountain, Mr. Mattson had been a partner and co-head of the global industrials group within investment banking at Goldman Sachs until his 2012 retirement. In 2020 and 2021, he successfully raised two special purpose acquisition companies, NextGen I and NextGen II, completing merger transactions for both companies.
