Peter J. Clare, chief investment officer of corporate private equity and chairman of the Americas at Carlyle Group, will retire from the firm on April 30 after 31 years at the firm, a spokeswoman said.
Effectively immediately, he is also stepping down from the board.
Sandra Horbach and Brian Bernasek, both partners and co-heads of U.S. buyout and growth, are stepping in to take on the role of co-heads of the Americas. They will maintain their current responsibilities at Carlyle Group.
"It has been a true honor to have been a part of this world-class firm and brand from the very beginning," Mr. Clare said in a news release. "I want to say thank you to the entire private equity team … and to the founders of Carlyle for giving me the opportunity to join them in building this firm."
