David Gedeon was named CEO of Bloomberg Index Services, said a news release Tuesday.
He will replace Steven D. Berkley upon his retirement in March. Mr. Gedeon is currently deputy CEO and head of index product.
Mr. Berkley was directly involved in Bloomberg's acquisition of Barclays Risk Analytics and Index Solutions in 2016. Those indexes include the Global, U.S. and Euro-Aggregate indexes created at Lehman Brothers during his time there as global head of its index business before departing in 2005 to join BlackRock and establish the relationship management function for BlackRock Solutions.
He was named chief operating officer for BlackRock's Aladdin business in 2010 and joined Bloomberg in 2014 to head its index efforts.
Regarding Mr. Gedeon's current role as deputy CEO and head of index product, a spokeswoman said there are currently no further personnel announcements.
